My name is Amie and I run AJ Centre for Dance. I have been planning the Centre for many years now and am thrilled to be offering high quality, varied dance classes in my home town.
I have a great adoration for dance; it has given me great fulfilment so far in life and I have seen it enrich the lives of many young people during my teaching career. I am devoted to giving physical skills, performance confidence and opportunities to local people, and expanding the possibilities for our budding dancers of all ages.
I have over 25 years worth of Dance training, choosing to always evolve as the dance world develops and keep up-to-date with new techniques and ideas within the fascinating world of dance. I have gained extensive teaching and performance/industry experience over the past 15 years and I am delighted to be continuing to expand this, running this wonderful Centre for Dance.
After completing an intense year of vocational training at Bodywork Company Dance Studios, I then achieved a First Class Honours degree in ‘Dance Practise and Performance’ from the University of Wolverhampton.
As a professional, I have performed as a Showgirl and Contemporary dancer in venues both nationally and Internationally including: The Birmingham Hippodrome; The London Palladium; The NIA; The NEC; Wembley; The Ricoh Arena; Sicily-Italy and MTV. I qualified as an outstanding teacher in 2012, creating and running the dance department in a sixth form as well as building upon the performing arts in the school as a whole.
I have worked on many projects with students over the years, to extend opportunities available to them, including nationwide arts council funded projects and outreach projects with professional dance companies.
My experience to date and my love of the discipline of Dance has motivated me to bring my vision to life by creating AJ Centre for Dance. Dancing truly has given me the most wonderful sense of euphoria, well-being and fitness and I simply want to share this.
