Amie Jerromes
I am the Principal at AJ Centre for Dance and I am immensely proud of the hub of creativity, practical skill and dance community we have nurtured since we opened back in 2018. The studio was born out of a desire to spread the joy of movement and dance in my local community after extensive dance training and teacher training across the Country.
After training regularly as a child I chose to persue professional vocational Training at BodyWork Company Dance Studios in Cambridge where I achieved a Diploma in Dance. I then specialised further and completed a Degree in Dance Practise and Performance with First class Honours at the University of Wolverhampton.
I taught for a Community interest Company and Local Sports Company during my studies at this time to gain experience teaching children from age 4-16. I taught Dance programmes in various genres in Regional schools both in and out of school time, gaining several teaching certificates and accreditations during this time. I found a love of teaching and a great sense of achievement from the successes of others during this time.
Professional performing work with a Contemporary Dance Company and Showgirl Dance Company took me to large performance venues both Nationally and Internationally after completing my Dance Degree; The Ricoh Arena, The NEC, Symphony Hall, The Birmingham Hippodrome, The London Palladium and MTV to name a few.
I adored performing in several events for 5 years before completing my Graduate Teaching Program in Dance Teaching, gaining QTS as an Outstanding teacher in 2012. After running a successful Dance Department in a local 11-18 Academy for 6 years I decided to transfer my skills to open my own Dance studio.
Passionate about bringing to life the vision I had to create a Centre for Dance which would give everyone a place to be active and expressive, AJ is now a place where the joy of dance and movement can truly flourish.
